As an “old moderate” my reaction to this piece should not be surprising. The message seems to be there is no place for me in this new left vision. That is likely both alarming and disheartening for any moderate thinker. The issue is that current politics has become so polar, with some much of the political noise coming from the extremes, that the moderates, or the “middle” if you prefer, are left not only deafened by the din, but without a voice and thus unable to be heard. Calm, intelligent conversation has been displaced by the screaming-meme’s of political theatre, amplified even further by news media bias. My sense I that if there were a third party that spoke to and captured the hearts and minds of moderates, of all ages or times, the extremities of both the left and right would find themselves relegated to the minority fringe status that they really are. Not that fringes aren’t important, they just don’t get to drive the boat.

One-time Democrat, came to my senses, opinionated…but evidence based, moderately conservative, have trouble with BS…especially the political variety.
