Chicago is a war zone; thank Rahm Emanuel.

I love it when TV shows like The View place people like Rahm Emanuel in the spotlight to critique the actions of others. Really? Rahm Emanuel? His record on Chicago leaves no room for him to pontificate about how anyone else does their job. His performance while Mayor of Chicago (handed to him by Barrack Obama) was atrocious. Think about it. What we see in Chicago today is a reflection of the “leadership” that has been in place over the past decades. That is how we get to these situations. They don’t just happen, they are created by back-ass-ward, and often corrupt politics or politicians; sometimes both.

This situation in Chicago is certainly the responsibility of the current Mayor, Lori Lightfoot, but it was not caused by her. It was caused, brought about, by the actions and policy leaders who preceded her. For as far back as you want to look, crime and corruption have been huge issues in Chicago. Also as far back as you want to look, dealing with those who commit those acts has been a top of the list request from voters. People in Chicago don’t want to live in what has become a war zone. There were 15 shootings, with 3 killings just last night (Thursday, July 2, 2020). 4 toddlers have been shot in the last 2 weeks. TODDLERS for Christs sake!

For as far back as you want to look, Chicago politicians have run on the promise of fixing these huge problems. In all those decades, those elected based on those promises have achieved nothing of significance. Chicago is not safer. Chicago’s drug problem is not better. Chicago schools are not better. Chicago’s gang problem is not better. Chicago is not more universally prosperous. It’s a mess!

So, who do you think is responsible for this situation? It is not new. It has been around for a long time. But it is worse; far worse at the moment. Rahm Emanuel bears a great deal of that responsibility. He had his chance to fix it, and completely blew it. But, in fairness, it was not just him. His predecessors had a hand in creating the Chicago we see today too. Since 1931, the Democratic Party has had the reigns of this once great city. 1931! 89 freaking years! What does that tell you? If it doesn’t tell you that Chicagoan's have misplaced their trust in those Democrat leaders and their obviously inept policies, you are either blind or one of those that participated, actively or passively, in making Chicago what it is today.

So, how anyone can put Rahm Emanuel up in front of America as some sort of political leader we should all pay attention too is beyond any reasonable rationale. History does not show he was capable to solving the problems of Chicago. Many will tell you he made them worse. Why would we pay attention to his ideas for any place else. His record does not justify aggrandizing him as some sort of champion capable of fixing anything. Yet the left gives him TV time like he’s some sort of saint. What does that tell you?

One-time Democrat, came to my senses, opinionated…but evidence based, moderately conservative, have trouble with BS…especially the political variety.
