Hello Charlotte Fox. Actually, your government is the current political party that has control of both the executive and legislative branches. “They” would not usually be labeled right wing religious fanatics. But I think I know what you mean. Just 2 branches are not enough, you want all three.
But consider this; the current “leadership” had plenty of opportunity to codify Roe (or some variant) but failed, even though they were in power. That same set of circumstances occurred under Mr Obama as well, yet nothing was done. Why is that? The great law schools of this country have highlighted and debated the fragility of Roe since the day it was enacted. They knew it was on thin Constitutional ice. Not because it wasn’t a woman’s right to control her reproductive activity, but because it did not fit clearly within the “structure” of the constitution. It needed to be codified into law rather than being just a case decision; precedent setting or otherwise. They didn’t get it codified because they were incapable. That would have required good faith give and take, something this recent crop of politicians is incapable of,. And thus we all suffer.

One-time Democrat, came to my senses, opinionated…but evidence based, moderately conservative, have trouble with BS…especially the political variety.
