Hopelessness does feed hopelessness; it's a humanity thing. For centuries many "enlightened" have asked the question of how our civilization can go on. We were, to their thinking, at the precipice of collapse. They rest in their graves harboring that thought.

It is in our nature that our advance through time should be so messy. We are not easy to give complete control to any one entity, and complete control would seem the only way to address your many concerns. Mr. Xi seems to have that idea firmly in his focus, but not without resistance. The truth is no one person or entity has all the right answer and as such delivers many of the wrong ones.
