Hurricanes this late in the season are rare, but certainly not a never before thing. 2005 saw Cat 3 Wilma hit south Marco island on Oct 24. The Yankee hit Miami on Nov 4 in 1935. Hurricane Kate missed Florida but hit just north on the South East coast on Nov 21, 1985. Officially, Hurricane season doesn't end until Nov 30.
