I get this sort of response often Alanzisser. The idea that more Democrats with more control would make things better. My sense is that the evidence does not support that would be a good idea. Consider Chicago. That has been a Democrat stronghold for decades. Since the 1930’s you can count on one hand the Republicans who held high office. Democrats have dominated local politics and held the reins of power there nearly unopposed. But look at that outcome. I’ve been there many times. I’ve seen it degrade.

Consider California. I lived there for many years. It was once the “Golden State”, with the best schools, the best highways, lots of water, clean hydroelectric power, affordable housing, a support system for many of the homeless and “reasonable” personal income tax. California today, even with a top 5 global economy (larger than most countries) has a fragile energy grid, rampant and escalating homeless crisis, bottom of the list schools, decayed transportation infrastructure, disdain for law and order, horrible forest management and catastrophic wildfires, nationally high tax rates, crazy gas prices, crazy home prices, over a trillion dollars of debt, surging crime, and a desiccating water crisis. Poor governance is an incredible understatement.

Democrats were able to do that to Chicago and Califorrnia because there has been essentially no conservative / Republican counterbalance for many years. I’d hate to see that happen to the whole country, but there is no reason to suggest it wouldn’t.

One-time Democrat, came to my senses, opinionated…but evidence based, moderately conservative, have trouble with BS…especially the political variety.
