OK Ben, but who is the "general American public" you're refer to? The vast majority that I know; neighbors, local business people, schools, churches, fellow workers, and families, are generally nice, polite, friendly and responsible. I see no evidence why anyone would actually believe that they are all without grace or honor?
As for the "press" being right wing, I'm not sure what you're reading or listening to. I read the NYT almost daily. They do not leans left by any stretch of the imagination. I watched the George Stephanopoulos show this morning. Hardly right wing. If it weren't for Chris Christie I would have been a leftist fiesta. I also watch Fox and CNBC...and read a lot of Medium material. To be clear, I read Christine often because I enjoy her perspective and her storytelling. I was surprised when she seemed to cast "Americans" in a disparaging light. Maybe I'm the only one that flashed to that,...but I don't think so. We need to celebrate what is good about America and Americans not just spotlight what is perceived as bad, even if it is only the bad that sells our articles.
