Should Biden resign (or otherwise move on) and Harris take the chair things would only get much worse for Democrats. Candidate / leader quality is a problem for both parties, but perhaps she epitomizes that.

But, naysayers always have the advantage of waiting things out in order to say "I told you so!" It's an easy course to plot.

The more difficult challenge is to confidently lead into any headwinds. American history is wrought with perceived insurmountable challenges that somehow got surmounted. It has often been a dirty business, but America persists despite that.

The drivers of partisan extremes are not the vast majority of people that live on the liberal / conservative spectrum, but those on the fringes that make a living off of creating dragons to slay and inflaming our differences....fear! That group consists of mega-donors, complicite media and professional politicians. Placing term limits on House and Senate membership would go a long way toward blunting the impact of such mega-money funded power bases.
