So, Wil, I read this story about your FB jail time. I actually didn't see anything egregious in your Taco Tuesday comment, but then I'm not FB...or the guy who felt it necessary to take you to Taco-task.

However, I am straight, white and male and somehow because of that came under attack, however indirectly. Fragility is not something I associate myself with, nor is it associated with me by anyone I care about. Mediocrity however is not mine to determine. It all depends on the scale used to measure it and who occupies the end points.

But I digress; having read your story, and several of the many comments a celebrity such as yourself would attract no matter what the topic, I thought I'd comment too. Why not?

First, words like "mediocre" and "fragile" are easy to throw around. They can be used separately; as you did in your title line, or they can be used together. The question is how you intended to apply them. Is the guy at the end of your verbal spear "fragilely mediocre" or is he "mediocrely fragile"? An idea worth debate perhaps.

Next, why did you care what Taco-man had to say? His only goal may have been bragging rights with his peer group. "Wow, I really stuck it to Wil Wheaton on Facebook today!" (A quick breath on his fingernails before polishing them on his sweat shirt.) By your response it would appear like he really did stick it to you. Then writing about it here is like giving him bonus points.

Finally, why did you feel it necessary to include race and gender in your response? Actually, don't answer that, let me speculate. If you had just said "someone" had done that too you your story would lack a compelling, topical and timely headline. The "character" had to be amplified and the "characteristics" needed to play into the victimhood echo chamber of your audience in order to draw comments....which it seems to have done quite well.

It all confirmed that you are indeed a victim of FB, and more importantly of "mediocre white men" in general and Taco-man in particular.

Love your audiobooks!
