There lies a point of great wisdom Lauren.

It is my hope also that there is an OMG discovery behind this raid. Anything less than that will only facilitate to argument and polarity. If there is not something HUGE they will have done the country incredible harm. Belief in the Justice Department, which is already at a Comey low, will fall off a cliff. No one, of any political persuasion will ever think they can trust them again.

As for Don; Some pretty powerful folks have been trying to get him for a long time. Crossfire Hurricane (named from a Rolling Stones song no less), another 2016 FBI drama, came up with nothing to stick on him after a year of pretty serious effort. That mutated into the 2017 -2019 Mueller Special Council Investigation. After that two year deep dive, they concluded; Russian Collusion? No!, Obstruction? Hmmmm...maybe. Then, in December 2019, the Justice Department's Inspector General found that the FBI made MANY (at this presumed level of competence 17 qualifies as MANY) "errors and omissions" on FISA warrants used to spy on Trump and his associates. 2 of those warrants were eventually declared invalid. A Federal Judge then stated that the FBI had no "legal basis" to investigate or surveil Trump aide Carter Page. All this led to the Special Counsel John Durham investigation in 2020. In the 2022 final report they again could not hang anything of consequence on Trump. Quite the opposite, actually hanging claims on the Clinton Campaign for dissemination of false allegations against Trump. Showing the "Steel Dossier" and the "Alfa-Bank" allegations of conspiracy against Trump were entirely concocted. Of course lefties screamed that the Durham report was "tainted with political interference"...without any evidence to support that claim.

Anyway, this is all stuff you know. And I don't care how you spin it. My point is that the full force of the Justice Department and the FBI has not been able to connect the dots on any of this while at the same time being shown to not be above lying, distortions and half-truths...or maybe quarter-truths. And now they're trying a never before used document mishandling path? That's the best they've got?

So you are correct, optics are incredibly important, to the politician and the public and these optics look terrible; no matter which side of this mess you are on.

One-time Democrat, came to my senses, opinionated…but evidence based, moderately conservative, have trouble with BS…especially the political variety.
